Loving Vincent

I have loved Vincent Van Gogh since forever. I have always gravitated towards his paintings and admired him as an artist. Seeing one of his paintings in real life for the first time is something that I will never forget. You don’t have to know a lot about his life to admire his paintings, but knowing just a little bit about him somehow enriches his art. That is why I am very excited to see this film project Loving Vincent.

Currently in production at Oscar-winning studio BreakThru FilmsLoving Vincent will be the first feature-length animated film made solely through hand-painted canvases. The movie will examine the life of post-Impressionist painter Vincent Van Gogh and the circumstances surrounding his violent and mysterious death some 123 years ago. Understandably, the production for Loving Vincent is no easy task and requires the help of 70 (!) painters who will help create the numerous hand-painted oil canvases required to bring the story to life. The team is currently appealing to the public on Kickstarter to help raise funds to complete the movie. (via The Awesomer)

The idea behind this project is incredible enough…a whole movie done with moving paintings. Adding in the aspect about Van Gogh just takes it over the top. I really hope this happens!

Check out this video about the project. Simply amazing.
